Texas DE Torrodney Prevot Commits To The USC Trojans

The Trojans may have finalized their 2013 class on Sunday with a big-time commitment.

After a summer that saw some confusion about 2013 Houston (TX) Alief Taylor defensive end Torrodney Prevot's top schools, the possible collegiate linebacker committed to the USC Trojans on Sunday.

The 6-4, 200-pound defender became the 18th commitment for head coach Lane Kiffin and the Trojans, filling the class. Unless, that is, Kiffin decides to pull a scholarship and continue his pursuit of Penn State running back Silas Redd, who would fill a major immediate need.

A consensus four-star prospect by the services who held over 20 offers at the time of his pledge, Prevot had said that his top schools were LSU, Texas A&M, Cal, and Oregon, along with USC, in the weeks before his decision.

Since he is undersized at right around 200 pounds, Prevot is a developmental project at defensive end, with some questioning whether or not he will ever reach a mass that will allow him to even play a weakside position. After recording 12 sacks as a junior, there’s no question that Prevot can get to the quarterback at the high school level, consistently dominating in combine settings, as well.

However, Prevot was not able to participate in much of The Opening, which features lineman drills in full pads, a marked contrast to combines without. In a setting that would have shed some light on his ability to compete against the best in the country, in pads, those in attendance were instead left with the same question marks coming into the event.
