Tight Ends Travis Johnson, Mike Heuerman Stand Out At IMG

The following is a list of tight ends who stood out during the IMG Madden Football 7-on-7 National Championship Tournament in Bradenton, Fla.

Travis Johnson, Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit High School, Committed To Miami Hurricanes: The 6'4, 232-pound Johnson was the consistent, go-to option for Team Tampa. Johnson was much too large for most opposing corners to handle. In the semifinal game, quarterback Pete Dinovo threw to him four consecutive times. He showed sure hands and leaping ability as well.

Mike Heuerman, Naples (Fla.) Barron Collier High School, Committed To Notre Dame Fighting Irish: Team 239 had a disappointing showing in the tournament, but it wasn't due to Heuerman's play. Heuerman isn't flashy, and the format is not well suited for showcasing his skills, but he was dependable in catching the football Saturday.

Khalid Hill, Detroit (MI) Crockett High School, Committed To Michigan Wolverines: Hill isn't a chiseled prospect, but his feet are much faster than one might expect when looking at the 6'2, 240-pounder. Hill was routinely able to get open against quicker defenders and had good chemistry with fellow Michigan commitment Shane Morris.

De'Sean Smith, Lake Charles (LA) Barbie High School, Committed To LSU Tigers: A week of hanging out with LSU commitments probably didn't hurt the Tigers' chances with Smith, who went ahead and pulled the trigger for LSU upon returning home.

Darryl Richardson, Seffner (Fla.) Armwood, Uncommitted: Richardson is normally a quarterback for the Hawks, but when the California team was short on tight ends, the 6’5, 235-pound Richardson stepped in and looked very good. He is intent on playing quarterback in college, but Richardson moved very well at tight end.

Lucas Hamilton, Lenoir (TN) City High School, Committed To Middle Tennessee State: Hamilton is probably going to end up with much better offers than MTSU. He was very consistent with his hands and knows how to run routes.

Jeffrey Holland (2015), Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian: Holland looked like a 2014 or 2013 kid out there. At 6’2 and 215 pounds, he showed good athleticism and coordination, though he does need to catch the football more consistently. Holland will end up with 30+ offers if he continues to work on his game.
