Taquan Mizzell, a top recruit out of Bayside High School in Virginia Beach, committed to Virginia Tuesday over West Virginia and North Carolina.

Mizell is an all-purpose running back. He stands 5’10 and weighs 178 pounds. Mizell is a consensus four-star recruit, though Rivals does rate him as a five-star. Mizell also held offers from Clemson and Notre Dame, though whether those programs would still take him is unknown.

Virginia fans missing Perry Jones will quickly find his replacement in Mizell, who has excellent moves and the ability to catch the football out of the backfield. Mizzell won't be a feature back because of size, but he could definitely handle 10 carries and five or more touches per game, early on.

Mizzell is the 18th commitment of the 2013 class for the Cavaliers. Mike London has significantly improved Virginia's recruiting during his time in Charlottesville, and the results are beginning to show up on the field as well.
