Florida State football recruiting: Seminoles assembling another solid class for 2013

The Seminoles still have room to add to their 2013 recruiting class, but have positioned themselves well for another strong class.

The Florida State Seminoles are set to assemble another top-10 recruiting class in 2013. Most of the major scouting services have the Seminoles ranked around 10th. Head coach Jimbo Fisher has had to deal with a staff shakeup recently, as defensive coordinator Mark Stoops left Tallahassee to be the head coach at Kentucky.

However, Fisher brought in Bob Pruitt to replace Stoops, and Pruitt is known throughout the country as a top recruiter. He also avoided the loss of offensive coordinator and ace recruiter James Coley, who was rumored to be in the running for the head job at Florida International.

All told, Florida State has secured 17 commitments for the 2013 class and had one early enrollee this month. There are a lot of spots still open for this class, and it could change dramatically over the next month if things break right for the Seminoles. Here’s a closer look at some of the bigger names that will likely be suiting up for the Noles in the near future:

DeMarcus Walker: The Seminoles have a big need for defensive ends due to the departure of Bjoern Werner and Brandon Jenkins, and the 6'4, 280-pound Jacksonville, Fla., native could help fill that void. The four-star prospect is rated as a consensus top-10 defensive end.

Ira Denson: The 6’4, 320-pound offensive lineman is a consensus four-star prospect and is rated among the top high school players at his position. Florida State isn’t experiencing a ton of attrition at OL, so Denson probably won’t be expected to contribute right away.

Ryan Green: The four-star running back from St. Petersburg, Fla., will join a crowded backfield for the Noles, but considering how they used a committee approach last year, he could get in the mix. Green is 5’10, 195-pounds, and is one of the top running back prospects in the nation.

E.J. Levenberry: A 6’3, 226-pound ILB from Virginia, Levenberry is a four star prospect and rated at the top five at his position in the country, and is a top 50 prospect overall.
