The Virginia Tech Hokies are not known for bringing in highly-rated recruiting classes. That isn't to say that they're slouches on the recruiting trail, but the focus in Blacksburg from Frank Beamer on down has been to find players that fit their system, and work hard at developing them into contributors.
Virginia Tech football recruiting: Hokies closing in on best class in years
Virginia Tech isn’t traditionally known for a highly-rated recruiting class, but several of the major services have their 2013 class rated in the top 15.

This season, however, the Hokies are looking to bring in a top 15 recruiting class, which would be one of the best in school history. Here’s a closer look at some of the bigger names in this 20-person recruiting class:
Kendall Fuller: The five-star cornerback from Good Counsel High School is the gem of this class. He’s the No. 2 cornerback in the country and is rated in the top 20 of all players in the country. He’ll have a chance to come in right away and make a difference in Blacksburg.
Holland Fisher: Listed as an outside linebacker by most services, there’s a decent chance the 6’1, 207-pound Virginia native ends up playing safety for the Hokies. If he does end up at defensive back, he would likely take some time to work his way into some playing time. At his current weight, he’ll need to bulk up in order to remain at linebacker.
Bucky Hodges: Another in-state get for the Hokies, Hodges is a dual threat quarterback that fits into the mold of what Virginia Tech has tried to do on offense over the past few years. At 6’6 and 230 pounds, he’ll remind a lot of people of Logan Thomas.
Wyatt Teller: The 6’5, 255-pound Virginia defensive end has good size for a player at his position just entering college. He isn’t blessed with exceptional speed, but is strong and can find other ways to get to the quarterback besides the speed rush.
