Could Ohio State’s pursuit of James Clark push Shelton Gibson to West Virginia?

The Buckeyes may not have room for both wide receiver prospects, and Ohio State’s pursuit of Clark could result in Gibson picking a different school.

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

Ohio State has for a while been considered the frontrunner for wide receiver Shelton Gibson, who is a four-star prospect in the class of 2013. But the Buckeyes recently started recruiting wide receiver James Clark after some impressive film from his senior season emerged, and now there is speculation that Gibson could end up looking elsewhere.

Ohio State insiders do not believe the program has room for both players, which lends some additional uncertainty to the situation. Clark, who is from New Smyrna Beach, Fla., is planning visits to Florida and Clemson, and he is not planning a visit with the Buckeyes. He has already visited Northwestern, Purdue and Nebraska.

Gibson visited Ohio State over the weekend, but if he decides that Columbus isn’t the place for him, he could instead be headed to West Virginia. Gibson visited WVU last November, and he has a visit at Tennessee scheduled for this weekend.
