Alabama football recruiting: Reuben Foster, Montravius Adams, A’Shawn Robinson visiting Tide

The Crimson Tide once again have one of the top rated recruiting classes in the country, and could add to that class with several high profile recruits visiting Tuscaloosa this weekend.

With less than a month until National Signing Day, teams around the country are pulling out all the stops to try to land their top targets. The Alabama Crimson Tide are hosting a large group of highly rated recruits this Friday in Tuscaloosa, and could seal the deal on another top ranked recruiting class if they can get some of them to commit. The Tide currently have the top ranked recruiting class in the country, and are a position to still add significant talent to the class.

Here’s who will be in Tuscaloosa this weekend:

Alabama commits:

OLB Jonathan Allen, 6'3", 260 lbs, Ashburn (Va.) Stone Bridge High School, consensus five-star rating

DT Darius Paige, 6'4", 285 lbs, Foley (Ala.) Foley High School, consensus four-star rating

S Anthony Averett, 6’1”, 180 lbs, Woodbury (N.J.) Woodbury High School, consensus four-star rating

ILB Walker Jones, 6’3”, 238 lbs, Ridgely (Tenn.) Evangelical Christian School, consensus three-star rating

OG Bradley Bozeman, 6’4”, 305 lbs, Roanoke (Ala.) Handley High School, consensus three-star rating

Uncommitted or committed to other programs:

ILB Reuben Foster, 6'1", 240 lbs, Auburn (Ala.) Auburn High School, consensus five-star rating
Took official visit to Washington on Jan. 11, is scheduled to take official visit to Georgia on Jan. 25. Bud Elliott's take: Foster was committed to Alabama as a junior, but the pressure to return to his home state of Georgia will be intense.

DT Montravius Adams, 6’4”, 310 lbs, Vienna (Ga.) Dooly County High School, consensus five-star rating
Took official visit to Clemson on Jan. 11, is scheduled to take official visit to Georgia on Jan. 25. Bud Elliott’s take: Adams is considered an intense battle between Clemson and Georgia. Alabama has serious ground to make up, but it’s never wise to count out Nick Saban.

OT A’Shawn Robinson, 6’5”, 302 lbs, Fort Worth (Texas) Arlington Heights High School, consensus five-star rating
Currently committed to Texas, and will take official visit to Texas on Jan. 25. Bud Elliott’s take: Prospects committed to Texas don’t usually take visits elsewhere. That Mack Brown and Co. are allowing this shows how good of a prospect Robinson is.

S Vonn Bell, 5’11”, 190 lbs, Roseville (Ga.) Ridgeland High School, consensus four-star rating
Took official visit to Ohio State on Jan. 13, and is scheduled to take official visit to Tennessee on Jan. 25. Bud Elliott’s take: I believe Bell will sign with the Tide, and would not rule out a commitment this weekend, though his visit to Ohio State did go well by all accounts.

RB Alvin Kamara, 5’10”, 195 lbs, Norcross (Ga.) Norcross High School, consensus four-star rating
Scheduled to take official visit to Georgia on Jan. 25. Bud Elliott’s take: It’s a ‘Bama-Georgia battle for Kamara. Will he find the Tide’s backfield to be too crowded?

DE Jason Carr, 6’6”, 270 lbs, Memphis (Tenn.) White Station High School, consensus four-star rating
Currently committed to Tennessee, and took official visit to Tennessee on Jan. 11. Carr is also scheduled to visit Ole Miss on Jan. 25. Bud Elliott’s take: Carr is one of the more underrated recruits in the Southeast. It’s vitally important for Tennessee to keep him. Does Alabama have room? If Carr wants to commit this weekend, would Saban accept?

DT Henri Poggi, 6’4”, 270 lbs, Baltimore (Md.) Gilman School, consensus four-star rating
Currently committed to Michigan. Bud Elliott’s take: Poggi’s family has some connections to Saban and the Alabama coaching staff. He’s solidly committed to the Wolverines, but Michigan fans cannot be too secure knowing he’s visiting the best program in college football.

WR/DB Eddie Jackson, 6’2”, 175 lbs, Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Boyd Anderson High School, consensus three-star rating
Took official visit to Florida State on Jan. 11, and is scheduled to visit Arkansas on Jan. 25. Bud Elliott’s take: Jackson is an elite athlete who missed his junior season due to grades. After the release of his senior film, LSU, Florida State, Arkansas and Alabama offered. All have a legit chance to land the South Florida speedster. Expect him to be a consensus four-star in the final rankings.

It’s unseasonably cold in Tuscaloosa right now, but the weather is expected to be sunny and warm up into the 50s by Friday.
