Oregon football recruiting: Zach Cunningham, Cameron Hunt visiting Ducks

Oregon will host one recruit from SEC country and one already committed to Cal this weekend when Zach Cunningham and Cameron Hunt check out Eugene, visiting a team newly without a head coach.

Oregon would likely have an uphill battle with both of the recruits visiting this weekend -- even if Chip Kelly hadn’t left the Ducks this week for the Philadelphia Eagles -- but they’ll still try to land a pair of four-star prospects in Zach Cunningham and Cameron Hunt.

Hunt will be the tougher sell: the 6’4 offensive tackle has already committed to California, and did so back in July. That said, the Corona, Calif., native has left his options open, visiting Michigan and Ohio State last week before his trip to Oregon this week.

The 270-pounder isn’t huge by tackle standards but, as SB Nation’s Bud Elliott wrote when he committed, makes a major difference with his speed. The consensus four-star recruit will head to Cal next week, when he’ll likely either reaffirm or decide against sticking with the Bears.

As for Cunningham, this is the first and only trip the 6’4, 200-pounder is taking out of SEC country: he’s from Pinson, Ala., and is mainly looking around the South: he’s visited Auburn, and has trips to Vanderbilt and Tennessee planned. But the outside linebacker that some services have given four stars is still considering the Ducks.

If Oregon picks up either recruit, it would go a long way in keeping Oregon’s recruiting stability.
