North Carolina is expecting to welcome a nice group of official visitors this weekend as it tries to wrap up its 2013 recruiting class.
North Carolina football recruiting: Jarran Reed, MarQuez North visiting Tar Heels
As National Signing Day draws near, North Carolina has a few key recruits visiting this weekend, including Jarran Reed and MarQuez North.

The Tar Heels are hosting two prospects whom they hope to convince to play their college football in Chapel Hill. Jarran Reed, a four-star JUCO defensive tackle from East Mississippi Community College, is a current Ole Miss commit, but he will be on campus, as will MarQuez North, an uncommitted four-star wide receiver from Charlotte, N.C., Mallard Creek High School.
Bud Elliott’s take: Florida also wanted Reed and with the loss of Sylvester Williams, UNC could really use an immediate impact player like Jarran Reed. North is an excellent player and could be a nightmare in space in UNC’s spread attack.
In addition to Reed and North, UNC is hosting several committed prospects, including two players from Somerville, N.J., Timber Creek High School, Dajaun Drennon, a four-star defensive end and Greg Webb, a four-star defensive tackle, and T.J. Logan, a four-star all-purpose back from Greensboro, N.C., Northern Giulford High School.
