Missouri football recruiting 2013: Four new commitments, but still bottom of the SEC

The Tigers are getting depth at nearly every position, even if that help isn’t necessarily highly rated.

Frederick Breedon

Four new September commitments have boosted Missouri’s ranking on the 247composite, but not by much -- the Tigers are still last in the SEC by a healthy margin, although their class has moved up to 37th in the country, up from 40th last month. With 24 commitments, it doesn’t look like there’s much room for the Tigers to go, either, barring decommitments.

They also remain the only team in the SEC without a four-star recruit.

Of the four new Tigers, Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett receiver Nate Brown is the highest regarded, and is now Missouri’s highest-ranked recruit in the 2014 class, as well. Brown is a three-star on the 247composite, and among the top 70 receivers for 2014.

Missouri also added September commitments from three-star athlete Thomas Wilson from Buford, Ga.; three-star running back Ish Witter from Tampa (Fla.) Alonso; and three-star defensive end Jhonathon Williams, an in-state native from Berrien Springs. All three rank among the top 80 at their respective positions, and continue Missouri’s trend of adding solid, if unspectacular players, in this class.

Still, help is coming in at nearly every position for Gary Pinkel’s squad, and the Tigers will also add several athletes for the staff to flexibly deploy as well.
