Hugh Freeze came into Oxford and immediately took the football world by storm, hauling in a top-10 class in the country in 2013 -- including the top-rated high school and JuCo players in the nation.
Ole Miss recruiting 2013: Rebels continue to recruit strong
After an historic haul in their 2013 class, Hugh Freeze continues his strong recruiting.

The 2014 class is going well, if not as well as last year’s. Ole Miss’ haul ranks 14th in the nation by the 247sports composite -- good for just eighth in the loaded SEC.
The star of the class is Roderick Taylor, who may not be on Robert Nkemdiche’s level but is certainly an impressive get for the Rebels. The offensive guard from Callaway (Miss.) High School is considered a four-star prospect by the 247sports composite. He is rated as the second-best guard in the country and the best player in the state.
Andy Bauer is another top get for Ole Miss. The offensive tackle from DeSmet (Mo.) High School is rated as a four-star by the 247sports composite. He is considered the seventh-best tackle in the country and the best player in the state.
C.J. Hampton is another star of the class. The safety from Meridian (Miss.) High School is considered a four-star by the 247sports composite. He is rated as the eighth-best safety in the country and the second-best player in the state.
Another big talent coming into the program is Demarquis Gates. The outside linebacker from Lovejoy (Ga.) High School is rated as a four-star by the 247sports composite. He is considered the 25th-best outside linebacker in the country and the 25th-best player in the state.
D.K. Buford is a good get for the Rebels. The running back from Lafayette (Miss.) High School is considered a four-star by the 247sports composite. He is considered the eighth-best all-purpose back in the country and the seventh-best player in the state.
Still to come (By Bud Elliott, National Recruiting Analyst)
Ole Miss’ recruiting has fallen off some since its remarkable and improbable signing class of 2013. Still, the Rebels are very much in the mix for a few top stars.
- Kendarius Webster, of Stockbridge (Ga.), is a four-star cornerback recruit who is very much in play for the Rebels. He is also strongly considering Florida State and Georgia.
- Elisha Shaw, from Tucker (Ga.), is a four-star defensive tackle who is also considering Georgia.
- Ole Miss is still battling Vanderbilt for Crete (Il.) Monee High School’s Nyles Morgan, a four-star linebacker.
- The Rebels are also still after Markell Pack, a four-star receiver from Mississippi who is committed to Florida State. Pack has visited both schools several times.
