Butch Jones has gone to work in Knoxville, bringing in one of the top classes in the country -- it’s the first time since 2011 that Tennessee has had a top-15 class.

The group of 2014 commitments for the Volunteers rates fourth in the nation by the 247sports composite team rankings. Two of those three teams above them are Alabama and Georgia, meaning the Vols rank third in the SEC.
The Volunteers have added one commitment in the past month, two-star cornerback Emmanuel Moseley, from Dudley (N.C.) High School. That fills out the class at 25 members, although Tennessee did go over that limit in 2010 and 2011. Butch Jones is also working on the 2015 class, signing four star Lovejoy (Ga.) High School wide receiver Preston Williams in late September.
Jalen Hurd is the top commitment in Tennessee’s class. The athlete from Beech (Tenn.) High School is considered a five-star by the 247sports composite. He is rated as the third-best athlete in the country and the best player in the state.
Todd Kelly is another top player for the Vols. The safety from the Webb School of Knoxville (Tenn.) is considered a four-star by the 247sports composite. He is rated as the sixth-best safety in the country and the third-best player in the state.
Dillon Bates is another big get for Tennessee. The outside linebacker from Ponte Vedra (Fla.) High School is considered a four-star by the 247sports composite. He is rated as the seventh-best outside linebacker in the country and the 12th-best player in the state.
Cortez McDowell is a key component of Jones’s class. The safety from Locust Grove (Ga.) High School is rated as a four-star by the 247sports composite. He is considered as the 13th-best safety in the country and the 16th-best player in the state.
Dominique Booth is another top talent the Vols are receiving. The wide receiver from Pike (Ind.) High School is considerd a four-star by the 247sports composite. He is rated as the 30th-best wide receiver in the country and the third-best player in the state.
DaVonte Lambert is expected to make an immediate impact in Knoxville. The defensive end from Georgia Military College is considered a four-star by the 247sports composite. He is rated as the best JuCo strong-side defensive end in the country and the best JuCo prospect in the state.
