Four-star 2015 safety Justin Dunning commits to Texas A&M

The Aggies add a key defensive piece to their 2015 class.

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Four-star Texas safety Justin Dunning has committed to Texas A&M, the prospect announced on his Twitter account.

Dunning goes to Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas, and is considered a four-star prospect by the 247sports composite. He is rated as the eighth-best safety in the country and the 24th-best player in the state -- good for the 160th best prospect in the nation.

Dunning is a member of the 2015 class, meaning he’s a junior in high school now and will join the Aggies in two years. Texas A&M beat out fellow favorites Texas for Dunning’s services, and Baylor, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Texas Tech were also considered to be in the running.

He is the Aggies’ fifth commitment in the 2015 class, joining five-star defensive tackle Daylon Mack and four-star prospects Jay Bradford, Rodney Anderson and Jordan Davis.

Defensive help is something Texas A&M could use this year, especially in the secondary -- they rank second to last in the SEC in passing yards given up per game.
