Boston College recruiting: Addazio’s class ranks in middle of ACC pack

In his first year as Boston College’s head coach, Steve Addazio’s recruiting class ranks eighth in the conference.

With three winnable games left on the schedule, it looks like things may go better than expected for the Boston College Eagles in Steve Addazio's first year on the job. One win away from a bowl game, the Eagles stand at fourth in the ACC Atlantic Division.

Boston College’s 2014 class ranks 40th in the nation, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, which is good for eighth in the ACC. That puts the Eagles above Georgia Tech and below N.C. State. They have 23 commitments in the class, so there’s not much room for more improvement.

The most recent commitment for the Eagles is Allen Dawson, who committed earlier this month. The three-star safety from the Cheshire Academy (Conn.) is considered the best player in his state.

Connor Strachan is the top commitment in Boston College’s class. The inside linebacker from St. Sebastian’s (Mass.) High School is considered a three-star by the 247Sports composite. He is rated as the 18th-best inside linebacker in the class and the best player in the state.

Thaddius Smith is another big get for the Eagles. The athlete from Cardinal O’Hara (Pa.) High School is rated as a three-star by the 247Sports composite. He is considered the 45th-best athlete in the country and the 13th-best player in the state.

Jon Baker is an important part of Addazio’s class. The three-star offensive guard from Millis (Mass.) High School is rated as the 37th-best offensive guard in the country and the third-best player in the state.

Darius Wade is another top talent for Boston College. The quarterback from Middletown (Del.) High School is rated as a three-star by the 247Sports composite. He is considered the 22nd-best dual-threat quarterback and the fourth-best player in the state.

Marcus Outlow is a key cog in the Eagles’ class. The three-star running back from Norwich Free Academy (Conn.) is rated as the 52nd-best running back in the country and the second-best player in the state.
