Rutgers received bad news on the football side of things Sunday, as three-star quarterback prospect Tyler Wiegers decommitted from the school, opening up his recruitment to other schools.

The Scarlet Knights’ class still ranks second in the conference, but the departures are starting to hurt.

That's the sixth decommitment for Rutgers in the 2014 class, and the fourth in a week. Four-star safety Kiy Hester, four-star wide receiver Adonis Jennings and three-star cornerback Lamont Simmons also decommitted in the last week. Rutgers had a very large class, and still has 22 commitments (and good ones — they rank second behind Louisville in the AAC rankings), but losing two of their three four-stars (according to the 247sports composite) has to hurt.
This is not the only trouble the Rutgers football program has faced over the past week — former defensive end Jevon Tyree accused defensive coordinator Dave Cohen of verbally abusive behavior and physically threatening the player during an offseason meeting. That's not the first time Rutgers has had to deal with such a situation — basketball coach Mike Rice was fired in April after video surfaced of him verbally abusing his players and throwing basketballs at them.
