LSU recruiting 2013: Edward Paris, Brandon Harris headline strong class

The Tigers don’t have a large class at this point, but there’s plenty of talent on board.

Crystal LoGiudice-USA TODAY Spor

With National Signing Day less than two months away, LSU has 15 verbal commitments in a class that ranks 12th nationally and seventh in the SEC, per the 247Sports composite. That’s life in the SEC -- a school can put together a top-15 class and still be out-done by nearly half the league.

The Tigers’ class is made up primarily of consensus four-star players, including Darrel Williams, who is the most recent player to commit to LSU. Williams is an elite athlete/running back who also considered Georgia, Florida and Auburn, among others.

Here is a glance at some other top prospects in this class:

Safety Edward Paris was one of the first players to join LSU’s 2014 class when he committed in February. The Arlington (Texas) Mansfield Timberview High School product is the fourth-best player at his position, per the 247Sports composite rankings, and the 42nd-best overall player in the country.

Brandon Harris, who is one of several significant in-state commitments to LSU, could be the Tigers’ quarterback of the future. The four-star early enrollee is considered a top-100 player and one of the top five dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation.

Trey Quinn is a four-star wide receiver from Lake Charles (La.) Barbe High School. He is the No. 12 player at his position, the eighth-best player in Louisiana and the No. 88 overall prospect in the 2014 class.

The Tigers didn’t have to go far to recruit Garrett Brumfield, who played his high school football in Baton Rouge. The four-star offensive guard is ranked as one of the top 10 players at his position and one of the top 110 players in the class.
