Nasvhille, TN all-purpose back and safety Cornelius Elder wasn't going to rush his decision when it came to where he was going to college. With playing both basketball and football in school a consideration for one of Tennessee's best prep players, Elder weighted his options carefully. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Auburn Tigers offered him the ability to play football and basketball, as did the Vanderbilt Commodores and UCLA Bruins.

Miami wasn’t widely known to be among the final teams in the running, but Elder’s account tweeted the following one week after Signing Day:

It would appear that’s the end of that. Others asked whether he’d continue to play basketball as well -- a tweet reply said, “probably.”

Elder took his time with the decision because he didn’t want to give up either sport. He took two visits late in the recruiting period, one to Auburn at the end of January and another to Georgia Tech just a few days later. He also popped up to Columbus to see Ohio State in mid January.

The Nashville native is ranked a four-star recruit by 247 Sports and is considered the eighth best athlete in the 2013 recruiting class. Hoops-wise, he’s rated either a two-star or three-star point guard, depending on the service.

Ratings: Four star by 247 Sports.

Vitals: 5’10” tall, 165 pounds

Other offers: Georgia Tech, Ohio State, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Auburn, Ole Miss

Twitter: @AIR_CORN23

Recruitment timeline: Elder took an official visit to UCLA on Nov. 16, Ohio State on Jan. 11, Aubrun on Jan. 30, Georgia Tech on Feb. 2.
