Quin Blanding announcement: 2014 5-star to choose, likely from 3

The top safety in the 2014 recruiting class will be reportedly picking between either Virginia, Florida State, or Ohio State.

One of the first big decisions of the 2014 college football recruiting cycle is on its way. Quin Blanding (widely considered one of the nation's top high school safeties) will make a final announcement on February 27th at 2:30 p.m. about where he plans to attend college and play football. The Virginia Beach (Va.) Bayside safety is likely to choose between either the Virginia Cavaliers, Florida State Seminoles or Ohio State Buckeyes. Several recruiting experts believe Virginia is the favorite among the three schools.

Blanding measures in at 6’2 and weighs around 200 pounds. Blanding was the first five star recruit for Rivals and is currently ranked as the fourth-best national recruit by their services. Blanding is 7th in the 247Sports rankings and is also considered their top safety. Blanding is also ranked as the top 2014 safety according to Scout and is one of the members of the ESPN Watchlist.

Blanding is part of a loaded Virginia recruiting class that includes defensive tackle Andrew Brown and defensive end Da’Shawn Hand. Blanding was part of The Opening camp at Nike headquarters in Beaverton. Other schools on Blanding’s top ten include Clemson, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, N.C. State, Notre Dame and West Virginia, but they aren’t expected to factor into the conversation.
