Quin Blanding football recruit updates: elite 2014 Virginia safety

Cavaliers fans have been able to gape at Quin Blanding’s production at Nike’s The Opening in Beaverton, Ore. He’s lived up to the hype as the top safety in the country, with impressive results in drills and solid play in game situations.

It would have been easy to say that Blanding is the top recruit in Virginia history. He’s the No. 1 safety in the nation per 247’s composite, a consensus 5-star, and as Bud Elliott wrote in his scouting report of Blanding, the 6’2, 200-pounder has got the full package. But he was joined by Andrew Brown, ranked as the No. 1 DT in the country, in a Virginia class that’s turning heads around the country.

Quin Blanding is one of the top defensive back recruits in the class of 2014. He stars for Virginia Bech (Va.) Bayside High School, making 111 tackles and five interceptions as a junior in 2012.

Blanding measures in at 6’2, 200 pounds. Blanding was the first five-star recruit for Rivals and is currently ranked as the fourth-best national recruit by their services. Blanding is seventh in the 247Sports rankings and is also considered their top safety. Blanding is ranked as the top 2014 safety according to Scout and is one of the members of the ESPN Watchlist.
