Highly-regarded defensive end prospect DeMarcus Walker, from Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, FL, switched his commitment from Alabama to Florida State in early January. Walker is considered a four-star prospect by Rivals and the third-best strongside defensive end in the 2013 class.
DeMarcus Walker enrolled at Florida State after flipping from Alabama
One of the nation’s top defensive end prospects had a change of heart and decided to enroll at Florida State rather than Alabama.

According to Rivals, Walker is 6’6 and weighs 280 pounds. He ran the 40 in 5.04 seconds and has a 31-inch vertical.
The primary reason for the change of heart was the fact that Florida State hired Jeremy Pruitt away from the Crimson Tide. Walker developed a good relationship with Pruitt during the recruiting process and ultimately decided it best to follow him to Tallahassee.
“[Walker] loved everyone at Alabama and it’s a great school, but the main reason he was there is Jeremy Pruitt,” Sandalwood head coach Adam Geis said. “Also, FSU it close to home and there is a great chance of seeing the field early.” Walker was one of FSU’s early enrollees, and he will participate in spring practice.
