Tight end recruit Jake Butt enrolled at Michigan

Jake Butt is one of several members of Michigan’s 2013 class to enroll early.

Jake Butt, a tight end prospect from Pickerington North High School (OH), is one of the early enrollees in Michigan’s 2013 recruiting class. Butt has been committed to the Wolverines since last February, and now he will be able to get a head start on his college career and participate in spring drills.

Butt is the fifth-best tight end prospect and No. 144 overall player in the class of 2013, in Rivals’ estimation. He’s ranked as the 14th-best tight end in the class by 247Sports.

He also has one of the best recruiting names of all time. Think about that for a moment. He plays tight end and his name is Jake Butt! If Butt ends up being a bust it will be a major disappointment because it could mean missing out on Brent Musberger having to say “flips it out to the tight end, Butt.”

Ratings: Butt is considered a three-star recruit by 247Sports and a four-star recruit by Rivals.

Vitals: He’s 6’6, weighs 240 pounds and runs a 4.70 40.

Other offers: Wisconsin, Iowa, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA

Recruitment timeline: Butt took an unofficial visit to Michigan on Feb. 18 of last year and committed to the Wolverines the next day. He did not visit any other schools after that point and enrolled at Michigan on Jan. 7.
