Justin Cox enrolled at Mississippi State: top JUCO safety recruit a Bulldog

Cox gives Mississippi State one of the better JUCO players in the class of 2013.

Justin Cox, from East Mississippi Community College, stayed in-state and signed with the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He is one of MSU’s early enrollees, and he’ll be able to participate in spring practice as a result.

Cox recorded 49 tackles in 2012, intercepted six passes and broke up 10 more. In 2011, he had 67 tackles, five interceptions and nine pass breakups.

Ratings: He is considered a three-star prospect by Rivals and a four-star prospect by 247Sports.

Vitals: Cox is 6’2” and weighs 185 pounds.

Other offers: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Nebraska, Ole Miss

Recruitment timeline: He originally committed to the Bulldogs out of high school, but failed to qualify academically. Cox made several visits to Mississippi State in 2012 and finally committed on Nov. 4. He enrolled in school on Jan. 8.
