Holland Fisher, a safety prospect out of Manchester High School in Virginia, has signed with the Virginia Tech Hokies. Fisher committed to Virginia Tech relatively early in the recruiting process and visited other schools that offered him scholarships, including Alabama, but ultimately did not change his mind.

Fisher said he simply wanted to explore his options and see what other schools had to offer, and that he had no intention of reneging on his pledge to the Hokies. He did not receive scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama and Ohio State until after he’d already committed to Virginia Tech.

Fisher is considered the fourth-best safety and the No. 36 overall prospect in the class of 2013 by 247Sports. Rivals considers him the 10th-best player at his position and the No. 83 overall prospect. He stands 6’1, weighs 196 pounds and runs a 4.70 40-yard dash.

He also received scholarship offers from Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Recruitment timeline: Fisher attended Virginia Tech’s junior day on Feb. 18 of last year and committed to the Hokies at that point. Since then, he received offers from several other schools, including Alabama, though he didn’t change his mind about attending Virginia Tech.
