Offensive lineman Derwin Gray has signed with Maryland, and will play his college football for the Terrapins. Terps offensive coordinator Mike Locksley was able to keep the Washington (D.C.) Friendship Academy product close to home, and adds a quality offensive lineman to the roster.

The Terps were able to keep the Washington, D.C. native close to home, as the big offensive lineman will be suiting up at Maryland.

The 6’5, 290-pound Gray primarily played left tackle for Friendship. He has the tools to stay in that position in college, but he may end up moving somewhere on the interior of the offensive line. He’s still raw in terms of technique, but has good strength and quick feet. There’s a chance he could get on the field early, as there are several upperclassmen leaving on the Maryland line.
Gray is rated among the top 10 offensive tackles in the nation for the 2013 recruiting class, and is one of Maryland’s top recruits for this recruiting cycle. Maryland’s class is rated in the 30s by the various recruiting services, and brings in a decent group of talent to College Park.
Ratings: Gray is a consensus four-star recruit according to 247, Rivals, Scout, and ESPN.
Vitals: Gray stands 6’5”, 290 lbs.
Other offers: Gray also had offers from Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Illinois, Michigan State, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, Tennessee State, and West Virginia.
