The Oklahoma Sooners graduated two defensive ends in 2012, but got a potential early contributor in Katy (Texas) strongside end Matt Dimon on Wednesday when he inked his letter of intent.

A four-star prospect by the 247Sports composite rankings, Dimon is a 6’4, 255-pound strongside defensive end rated just outside the top-15 players at his position and in the top 40 in the state of Texas. He held offers from Baylor, Boise State, Illinois, Missouri, Ole Miss, and Texas Tech, among others.
Listed variously as 250 or 255 pounds, Dimon is already on the large end of the spectrum for a defensive end, so it’s quite possible that he could end up as a defensive tackle. The Sooners are also making noises about switching to a 3-4 defense to take advantage of their available personnel, so Dimon could certainly play five-tech defensive end in a 3-4 at 270 or so pounds, which is likely in his near future.
Far from a pure edge rusher, Dimon is more of a solid athlete and technician who plays hard and gets a lot out of his ability. He uses his hands better than most high school linemen to collapse the pocket or hit and separate against the run.
He also finished his high school career on a high note, helping Katy win the 5A Division II state title and recording 12 sacks and six forced fumbles on the season.
