Dashon Hunt signs with Oregon State: Beavers land former UCLA commit

The Beavers were able to pull the small but powerful two-way player out of California, and most think he’s destined to play primarily on defense.

The Oregon St. Beavers have signed cornerback/running back recruit Dashon Hunt. The 5'9, 175 lb Hunt played both sides of the ball in high school, but is being recruited primarily as a defensive back. As a corner at Westlake Village (Ca.) Westlake High School, Hunt had 63 tackles, 10 passes defensed and six interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. He also rushed for over 1,200 yards and 18 touchdowns on offense.

Hunt is obviously a bit on the smaller size, but he is still able to play physical football on both sides of the ball. He’s a very good tackler, and is able to turn on the jets to get to the ball carrier.

Hunt gives Oregon State another solid player in a deep but not very star-studded class. The Beavers have a 22 player recruiting class in 2013, and almost all of them are three-star players. The class is rated in the low 40s by most of the national recruiting services.

Ratings: Hunt is rated as a four-star recruit by Rivals, Scout, and ESPN, and a three-star recruit by 247.

Vitals: 5’9, 175 lbs.

Other offers: Hunt also had offers from Nebraska, Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Cal, Colorado, Hawaii, UCLA, Washington, and Washington State.

Twitter: You can find Hunt on Twitter @DHUNT_09. Here’s a sample of what you might find:
