Hunter Henry signs with Arkansas over Auburn

Bret Bielema and the Razorbacks managed to keep one of the nation’s top tight ends from leaving the state of Arkansas.

Bud Elliott (SB Nation)

Hunter Henry, from Pulaski Academy (Ark.), signed with the Arkansas Razorbacks. Henry had interest from a number of SEC schools in the region, and he took unofficial visits to several of them before ultimately deciding on Arkansas. Despite the coaching change from John L. Smith to Bret Bielema, he remained committed to the Razorbacks.

Henry is ranked as the fourth-best tight end in the class of 2013 by both Rivals and 247Sports. Those recruiting services also consider him one of the top 110 overall prospects. He had a big senior season, finishing the year with 107 receptions for 1,449 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had more than 1,000 yards receiving as a junior and scored 16 touchdowns.

He played his high school ball for coach Kevin Kelley, who takes a rather unorthodox approach to the game -- he eschews punts and likes to onside kick after scores, for example.

Ratings: Both Rivals and 247Sports consider Henry a four-star prospect.

Vitals: He is 6’6”, weighs 235 pounds and runs a 4.7 40.

Other offers: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame

Recruitment timeline: Henry took unofficial visits to several different SEC schools and named Arkansas as one of his leaders last May. He eventually committed to the Razorbacks in July, and while he later took an official visit to Alabama, new Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema managed to keep him in the fold.
