Demorea Stringfellow signs with Washington over USC

The Huskies managed to snag a top prospect out of California, and one that could prove to be a major contributor down the road.

Bud Elliott (SB Nation)

Wide receiver Demorea Stringfellow, from Rancho Verde High School (CA), is a Washington Husky. He made trips to other schools after committing to Washington last summer -- and USC made a late push -- but stayed true to his original college choice.

Stringfellow is considered the 10th-best wide receiver and No. 85 overall prospect in the class of 2013 by Rivals. He is rated the 12th-best receiver by 247Sports. As a junior, he piled up 1,080 yards receiving and 19 touchdowns on just 46 receptions.

SB Nation’s Derrell Warren has a breakdown of his skillset:

Stringfellow shows explosiveness off the line as he is able to quickly break down the cornerback’s cushion. He flashes strong hands and the body control to make in-air adjustments on both contested or off target throws. He classifies as a plus level run after the catch player, showing both slippery elusiveness and power in the open field as well. Stringfellow also displays savvy when things break down and the quarterback has been flushed out of the pocket. He does a great job cutting off his route and working his way into open areas of the field to create throwing lanes for his signal caller. Stringfellow is also one of the best blockers in the nation at the wide receiver position.

Ratings: Stringfellow is rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals and 247Sports.

Vitals: He is 6’2 and weighs 205 pounds.

Other offers: Nebraska, UCLA, Florida, Notre Dame, USC

Recruitment timeline: Stringellow took an unofficial visit to Washington on June 27 of last year, then committed to play for the Huskies two days later. Despite that commitment, he still visited other schools, including UCLA, USC and Nebraska. But none of those schools managed to get him to flip.
