Greg Gilmore signs with LSU

The Tigers have added another big time defensive line prospect, this time in the person of four-star North Carolina defensive tackle Greg Gilmore.

Bud Elliott - SB Nation

The LSU Tigers have had arguably the biggest collection of defensive line talent in the nation over the past five years, and it looks they have added another good one by signing defensive tackle Greg Gilmore. The Hope Mills (N.C.) South View High School product is rated as one of the top 10 defensive tackle prospects in the 2013 recruiting cycle.

At 6’4”, 273 lbs, Gilmore is a load, but still has quick feet for someone his size. He’ll need to improve on his power, but that doesn’t appear to be a question going forward.

The Tigers look to be on track to reload again in 2013, pulling in what most services regard as an easy top 10 class. They may need some of these kids to live up to their billing early, however, due to the huge amounts of roster attrition they suffered following the 2012 season, particularly on defense. Gilmore could be in line to get onto the field early.

Ratings: Gilmore is rated as a five-star recruit by Scout, and a four-star recruit by 247, Rivals, and ESPN.

Vitals: Gilmore stands 6’4”, 273 lbs.

Other offers: Gilmore also had offers from Florida, Alabama, Cal, Clemson, East Carolina, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Maryland, N.C. State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee, USC, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, and Washington.

Twitter: Gilmore can be found on Twitter @The_GilmoreEra. Here’s a sample of what you’ll find:

Recruitment timeline: Gilmore committed to LSU back in November, picking the Tigers over the Florida Gators. He hasn't taken a visit to another school since then.
