In a classic case of the rich getting richer, Ohio State punter commitment Johnny Townsend has flipped and has signed with Florida instead. The consensus No. 2 class is now so rich with punters.
PUNTER FLIP: Florida signs Johnny Townsend away from Ohio State
In an act from which the Ohio State program will likely never recover, punter Johnny Townsend has signed with Florida instead.

Townsend was scheduled to announce for the Buckeyes early on Wednesday afternoon, but his press conference was pushed back beyond 4 p.m. ET. For a while Wednesday, Alabama was believed to be the one doing the punter-flipping.
The Orlando (Fla.) Boone High School product has been committed to Ohio State since last July, and also had a scholarship offer from Cincinnati. He’s rated as a two/three-star player, depending on the recruiting service you prefer, and comes in at a solid 6’2”, 200 lbs. Those are good numbers for a punter, by the way.
It appears that Ohio State folks aren’t exactly broken up over the prospect of losing a punter to another school, but losing a player that was committed is never a good thing. Perhaps the Buckeyes will try to go a year without punting, which isn’t all that crazy when you consider how soft the Big Ten was last season.
