Elisha Shaw, a consensus four-star defensive tackle from Tucker High School (Ga.), has plenty of suitors as he wraps up his junior year. He has offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Auburn, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Oklahoma State, among others. Shaw attended Alabama’s junior day, and he’s also made unofficial visits to Auburn and FSU.

Shaw is one of the best defensive tackles in the class of 2014 and he has received plenty of interest from the country’s top programs.
Shaw stands 6’5 and weighs 295 pounds. He is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, Rivals and Scout, and he is generally considered one of the top five players at his position in this class, not to mention the state of Georgia. According to Scout, his athleticism and quickness off the ball are major pluses for him.
He finished his junior season with 28 tackles, including six sacks.

Shaw is one of the best defensive tackle recruits in the country for several reasons. First, he has great length at 6’5, and while many tall defensive tackles run into issues with playing too high, Shaw has the flexibility to bend and play low, using his length to his advantage as he doesn’t let the defensive tackle get into his chest plate. Shaw’s ability to play low with his size also means that he is very difficult to move when he is asked to hold the point of attack.
The second reason Shaw is in such high demand is his quickness. There just aren’t many humans with Shaw’s combination of size and quick-twitch muscle. He reacts immediately at the snap and is often into the opposing offensive lineman before the poor blocker is out of his stance.
Shaw also plays offensive line, and while most schools are recruiting him on defense, he could be a good offensive lineman in college as well.
Shaw missed his sophomore season, and like many defensive tackles, has a long way to go with his technique. If he is receptive to coaching, he has the talent to be a multi-year starter at the BCS level.
