The federal government’s postal system may be facing cutbacks, but Kentucky’s football program isn’t to blame. The Wildcats sent a giant batch of handwritten letters to 2014 quarterback recruit Drew Barker, topping the list as the most voluminous recruit mailing on record. Barker tweeted out the total on Monday:
New record for most letters sent to a college football recruit at once?
The handwritten-letter game has a new player.

This is crazy.... UK sent 115 handwritten letters today 😳 #BBN instagram.com/p/XTCp00B11B/

Mark Stoops has now upped the ante, leaving the previous record holder, Nick Saban, to respond.
Saban and his staff sent 105 letters to running back Alvin Kamara in February 2012, according to Keith Niebuhr of Rivals.com. It eventually worked. Kamara signed with the Crimson Tide this past signing day, and will be suiting up for Alabama in the fall.
Suprisingly, SEC schools aren’t the only ones sending out mass mailings (although the biggest ones are coming from the South). We’ve compiled a list of some of the most crammed recruit mailboxes in recent memory:
1. March 2013: Drew Barker received 115 letters from Kentucky. He remains uncommitted.
2. February 2012: Alvin Kamara received 105 letters from Alabama. As stated previously, he signed with Alabama. Writing love-letters is one of Saban’s hidden, but most impressive talents.
3. March 2013: Stanton Truitt received 102 letters from Tennessee (via Mark Heim of al.com). He’s currently uncommitted.
4. February 2013: Clifton Garrett received 54 letters from Ole Miss. He’s currently uncommitted.
#OleMiss aint playin no games!! 54 hand written letters today #RebelNation!! instagr.am/p/Vhdxt1NUzd/

5. May 2012: Charles Mack received 52 letters from Georgia Tech (via Michael Carvell of ajc.com). He Committed to Richmond, with no reported offer from Georgia Tech. Recruiting is weird.
6. February 2013: Unknown recruit received 38 letters from Washington (via Glenn McGraw at Gamedayr) Awww, look at the Pac-12 trying to get it on the action.
7. August 2012: Adam Breneman received 32 letters from Ole Miss. A poor effort from the Rebels. He committed to Penn State, despite their inability to write letters at SEC speed.
Ole Miss sent 32 hand written letters to my house today... Hahaha crazy. twitter.com/AdamBreneman87…
