C.J. Reavis, a consensus four-star athlete/safety prospect in the class of 2014 from Thomas Dale High School (Va.), is drawing attention from some of the nation’s top college football programs. Reavis has scholarship offers from Ohio State, Nebraska, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Vanderbilt, among others.

Reavis is a highly sought-after prospect in the class of 2014.

Reavis is 6’2, weighs 200 pounds and runs a 4.50 40-yard dash. He is considered a four-star prospect by 247Sports as well as the No. 14 overall player from the state of Virginia. Rivals also considers him a four-star recruit and ranks him as the No. 250 overall prospect in the class of 2014. Scout, on the other hand, has him rated as a three-star recruit.

Bud Elliott, National Recruiting Analyst: Reavis is a tough, physical safety. He is aggressive against the run and does not shy away from contact, using his 6’2, 200-pound frame to his advantage.
Reavis lacks top-end safety speed, but he is fairly quick, which helps him make plays when reacting to the ball. Good football instincts also assist in that regard, and allow Reavis to start moving before a player with more speed but lesser instincts.
I expect that Reavis will work better in a zone scheme, which will allow him to use his quickness and instincts. I have questions about his ability to play in man coverage, because of his lack of overall speed. I also don’t see much of him changing directions, so that is still a question, though not a mark against him.
I expect Reavis to be a multi-year starter at the BCS level and a contributor on special teams early on in his career.
