Caleb Samuel is a consensus four-star prospect in the class of 2014 from the Macon (Ga.) Stratford Academy. Samuel could end up at one of several different positions at the collegiate level, including offensive tackle, defensive tackle and defensive end. He has scholarship offers from several major-conference programs, including Ole Miss, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi State and Boston College.

Samuel is a versatile prospect in the class of 2014 who has offers from several major-conference college programs.

Samuel is 6’5, weighs 260 pounds and runs a 4.87 40-yard dash. He is considered a four-star prospect by 247Sports and one of the nation’s top 25 prospects at the offensive tackle position. Scout considers him a three-star recruit and the No. 48 overall player at the defensive end position in this class. As of late March, he was unrated by Rivals.

Bud Elliott, National Recruiting Analyst: Samuel is an intriguing prospect. He has excellent length, even for a 6’5 player. And he has the frame to add additional bulk, though his shoulders are a bit narrow. He also offers multi-position versatility. I’ll evaluate Samuel as both an offensive and defensive line recruit.
Regardless of position, Samuel is going to be highly rated because of his size and athleticism combination. At the moment, he’s more of a projection than a great high school player.
Samuel could play defensive end in college. Because he is big and plays defensive end, teams often tried to run wide against him. But Samuel did a nice job of using his length to keep blockers away from his body, keep his outside arm free, and he moved his feet to maintain outside leverage and make the play. I think Samuel could be a good five-technique in a 3-4 defense, though he could also play traditional defensive end as well in a 4-3. I would like to see more explosion from Samuel at the snap, and he also needs to play lower initially out of his stance. He also doesn’t offer much in the way of pass rushing moves.
While I haven’t seen Samuel play offensive line, I believe he is quite capable of eventually playing the position after seeing his athleticism on defense.
There are certainly questions about the quality of competition Samuel faces at the Stratford Academy, and I don’t think he’d stand out nearly as much at a higher division.
Samuel is a developmental prospect who could be a multi-year starter at the BCS level from 2016-2018 if he develops during the 2014 and 2015 seasons, perhaps including a redshirt.
