One way to demonstrate where each school stands in recruiting is to put together an all-conference recruiting team.

The format is simple. Using the 247 Sports Composite of the four major recruiting rankings (Scout, Rivals, ESPN and 247), we’ll assemble the top QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, 5 OL, 4 DL, 4 LB, 5 DB.

Now with two pairs of high school teammates committed, the Oklahoma State Cowboys recruiting class got significantly better on Sunday with the pledges of Houston (Texas) Taylor stars Chris Hardeman and Keenen Brown.

A 6’3, 205-pound wide receiver, Brown is a consensus four-star prospect rated as the No. 37 wide receiver nationally and the No. 31 player in the state of Texas, rankings that are good enough to place him as the No. 250 player nationally. Thought to be a heavy Oklahoma lean in the 247Sports Crystal Ball (four of five predictions), Brown’s commitment to the Cowboys was something of a surprise.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys made a big splash on the recruiting trail Sunday with the pledge of Houston (Texas) Taylor cornerback Chris Hardeman, a longtime LSU pledge who opened up his recruitment a week ago.

The decision came while on a trip through Oklahoma that also included a stop in Norman to see the Sooner facilities. A consensus four-star prospect, the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions favored Arkansas for the son of the Taylor recruiting coordinator, just one of over 20 offers for the 5’8, 180-pound cornerback who participated in The Opening back in early July. He’s ranked as the No. 23 cornerback nationally and the No. 29 player in the state of Texas.

    Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

With the rise of Baylor recruiting, the entrance of TCU into the Big 12, and Kliff Kingsbury now starting to generate some buzz out in Lubbock, the Oklahoma State Cowboys are now facing more stiff competition for recruits than they have in the last several years.

In fact, the Bears have had better recruiting classes in each of the last two years than coach Mike Gundy and his staff, according to the 247Sports Composite. Success in the draft, improving facilities, and a defense that is increasingly landing top players have all helped to elevate Baylor’s perception.
