Jaleel Wadood primed to commit at Nike’s the Opening days after Arizona State decommit

After rescinding his decision to go to Arizona State, top defensive back Jaleel Wadood will reveal his new destination at Nike’s The Opening.

Jaleel Wadood is back on the market, and he’ll be announcing his college choice this weekend at Nike’s The Opening in Portland.

A 5’11, 165-pound defensive back from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco in Los Angeles, where he plays both ways. Wadood had been one of the highlights of Arizona State’s class, but chose to decommit Tuesday. That means one of the best secondary players in the class of 2014 is up for grabs. Wadood is a consensus four-star recruit, and although there is indecision about whether or not he’s best suited to play safety or cornerback at the next level, it doesn’t tend to dampen enthusiasm about him as a recruit. 247’s composite has him as the No. 19 safety in the nation, and Scout has him as the No. 19 cornerback.

His exit dropped the Sun Devils down to just four commits, none of which is a four-star. His options once again open, he has offers from California schools in USC, UCLA, and Cal, fellow Pac-12 teams in Oregon, Oregon State, Colorado, Washington State, and Utah, and a few nationally prominent programs like Nebraska, Vanderbilt, and Boise State. He hasn’t definitively said that he won’t consider re-pledging to Todd Graham and the Sun Devils, but his quick decision to announce a new destination makes that seem unlikely.
