4-star WR Artavis Scott to reveal commitment at Nike’s The Opening

Artavis Scott is one of the quickest wide receivers in the nation, one of the top ten players at his position in the class of 2014, and he’s primed to give his commitment this weekend at Nike’s the Opening.

Tarpon Springs (Fla.) East Lake product Artavis Scott will go across the country to make his college decision, as the consensus four-star wide receiver is set to announce his commitment this weekend at Nike’s The Opening in Portland.

To Bud Elliott, who wrote SB Nation’s scouting report of Scott, Scott’s most impressive trait isn’t his speed, but rather his quickness. Sure, he’s also regular-old fast, but not many players can accelerate the same way Scott does, and at 5’11, 180 pounds, he also boasts the leaping ability to make spectacular catches. That athleticism has him ranked as the No. 8 wide receiver in the nation per 247’s composite, with 247, Rivals, and ESPN each including him at No. 11 or higher.

Scott, who hails from the Tampa region, has offers from 25 schools, including several Sunshine State options in Florida, Florida State and a hometown school in South Florida. Nationally elite programs such as Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma are in the hunt, with SEC schools Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee also offering, but Clemson might be the school that earns Scott’s pledge.
