J.C. Jackson decommits from Florida State

The talented prospect decided to officially re-open his recruitment after being committed to FSU for more than a year.

J.C. Jackson, who is an elite cornerback/wide receiver prospect from Immokalee High School (Fla.), decommitted from the Florida State Seminoles on Monday, according to Luke Stampini of 247Sports. Jackson is a consensus four-star prospect in the class of 2014 and had initially pledged to FSU in March 2012.

SB Nation recruiting analyst Bud Elliott spoke to Jackson about his commitment to FSU in April, and Jackson didn’t sound at the time like a player firmly committed to playing for the Seminoles.

“[Florida] and [Florida State] are even,” Jackson said. “But Florida State is leading, since I’m still committed.”

He was even wearing Florida Gators gear during the interview.

Jackson took an unofficial visit to Florida on April 6, according to 247Sports, and he most recently attended camp at Miami. In the interview with Elliott, he also expressed some interest in Georgia.

Jackson, who stands 5’10 and weighs 180 pounds, is considered by 247Sports to be the 41st-best wide receiver prospect in the 2014 class. Rivals ranks him as the No. 20 cornerback in the country, while Scout considers him the 33rd-best cornerback in the nation.
