2014 LB Derik Calhoun talks about his commitment

The star California linebacker is set to announce on Wednesday in Beaverton, and he spoke with SB Nation Recruiting about why he likes each of his top five choices.

Derik (D.J.) Calhoun recorded 170 tackles with four fumble recoveries and also had nine touchdowns on offense to earn Defensive MVP honors for El Cerrito (Calif.) High School in the TCAL-Rock Division. The 5’11.5, 200-pound linebacker has close to 20 offers, including Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Cal, Colorado, Miami (Fla.), Nebraska, Oregon State, Utah, Washington, UCLA and USC.

Calhoun is set to announce his commitment on Wednesday at The Opening, and will choose between a top five of USC, UCLA, Cal, Miami and Arizona State. Most think the chase is effectively between the Trojans and Bruins, but we’ll know for sure when he announces.
