The quarterback situation at Notre Dame is unclear, but it doesn’t particularly bother consensus four-star quarterback DeShone Kizer, who’s running the Land Sharks 7-on-7 team this week at Nike’s The Opening in Beaverton, Ore.

SB Nation Recruiting spoke with consensus four-star Notre Dame quarterback commit DeShone Kizer, who talked about how the Irish might look going forward and how he played at The Opening.
Kizer, a 6’5, 207 pounder out of Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic, is ranked as the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the country by 247’s composite. He had the opportunity to work out with another big Fighting Irish recruiting get, Justin Brent, a four-star wide receiver also performing at The Opening. The Irish are locked into another strong class, with 13 recruits, all but two of them ranked as four-star players by the 247 composite. And as Kizer notes, it could get even stronger.
SB Nation Recruiting caught up with Kizer, who spoke at length about Notre Dame’s recruiting strategy, which is tough to figure out at quarterback with Everett Golson’s status at the university up in the air. He also discussed his throwing style, his experience playing 7-on-7 ball, his interactions with Brent, his performance in Portland, and which other players he’s trying to convince to go Irish.
