Clemson recruiting 2013: Tigers scoring big in Georgia

Clemson has five four-star recruits from the state of Georgia already.

Clemson has ranked in the top five in ACC recruiting class rankings in every year of Dabo Swinney’s tenure, and has ranked in the top three for the past three years. Swinney’s strong recruiting looks to continue this season, as the Tigers have gotten off to a strong start in their 2014 recruiting campaign.

Clemson ranks 14th in the 247 composite team rankings, putting them behind just Florida State and Miami among ACC schools. The Tigers are three spots above North Carolina, and six above Virginia Tech.

The Tigers have received one commitment in the past month -- Jeff Gibson, a three-star safety from Gray’s Creek (Nc.) High School who committed to Clemson over offers from N.C. State and North Carolina in late August.

Deshaun Watson is the star of Clemson’s recruiting class. The quarterback is out of Gainesville (Ga.) High School, and is ranked a four-star by the 247sports composite. He is regarded as the best dual-threat quarterback in the country, and the third-best prospect in the state of Georgia.

Artavis Scott is one of Clemson’s top recruits. The wide receiver is out of East Lake (Fla.) High School, and is ranked a four-star by the 247sports composite. He is regarded as the eighth-best wide receiver in the nation, and the ninth-best prospect in the state of Florida.

Demarre Kitt joins Scott and Watson as stars in the passing attack. The wide receiver is from Sandy Creek (Ga.) High School, and is ranked as a four-star by the 247sports composite. Kitt is considered the 15th-best wide receiver in the nation, and the eighth-best player in the state of Georgia.

Korie Rogers is another big get of the class. The outside linebacker hails from Buford (Ga.) High School, and is ranked as a four-star recruit by the 247sports composite. Rogers is considered the 11th-best outside linebacker in the nation, and the tenth-best player in the state of Georgia.
