The Buckeyes have been a recruiting behemoth in the Big Ten since time immemorial, and the process by which Urban Meyer reloads with blue chip true freshmen year after year is all but automatic. With 21 prospects committed in the 2014 class, Ohio State is in position to once again land the best recruiting haul in its conference and, as it stands in mid-January, the second-best class in the country.

Ohio State always gets its pick of the nation’s top prospects. The 2014 recruiting cycle has proven to be no different.

The highest-profile recruit in the Buckeyes’ class is also the most recent to join the fold. Consensus five-star linebacker Raekwon McMillan of Hinesville (Ga.) Liberty County committed to Ohio State on Dec. 16 over Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia. The 6’2, 242-pound inside linebacker is the best player at his position and the No. 19 overall prospect in the 2014 class, according to the 247Sports Composite Index. McMillan has already enrolled at Ohio State, so he will be able to participate in spring practice.
Urban Meyer has also obtained commitments Marshon Lattimore of Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville and Damon Webb of Detroit (Mich.) Cass Technical--two of the best cornerbacks in their class. Lattimore and Webb are both consensus four-star prospects and are considered the fifth- and sixth-best 2014 prospects, respectively, at their position. Lattimore is the No. 36 overall prospect in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite Index. Webb checks in at No. 44.
Ohio State’s top offensive commitment comes from four-star wide receiver Johnnie Dixon of Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Dwyer. The 5’10, 187-pound wideout is another early enrollee. He is considered the No. 8 wide receiver and No. 70 overall prospect in the 2014 class.
