Holiday: ‘I can definitely see myself’ at UC


DeChaun Holiday after the Army Bowl Wescott Eberts (SB Nation)SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- After playing in the 2015 US Army All-American Bowl last Saturday at the Alamodome, San Marcos (Calif.) Missions Hills cornerback DeChaun Holiday is finally ready to fully turn his attention toward recruiting.
When Holiday spoke with SB Nation Recruiting after the event, he said that his list of four finalists includes Arizona State, Oregon, UCLA and Washington.

Riverdale athlete Donte Jackson has earned his fifth star from 247Sports, which ranks him the No. 10 player in the country, the top athlete and the No. 1 player in the state of Louisiana.
With Jackson’s stock at all all-time high, his value to his three finalists -- Georgia, LSU and USC -- has never been higher.

Tim Irving after the Army Bowl Wescott Eberts (SB Nation)The consensus four-star prospect is hardly the only Florida player planning on heading to the Lone Star State for college -- Irvin’s old high school teammate, tight end Devonaire Clarington, also pledged to the ‘Horns during the Army Bowl. And two other members of the so-called “Florida Five” were already committed to Texas. The final member, Georgia Prep wide receiver Gilbert Johnson, added his name to head coach Charlie Strong’s commitment list on Sunday.
All of the momentum for the Longhorns in the Sunshine State helped Irvin make his choice.

After the event, Clarington told SB Nation Recruiting that the biggest thrill of it all was watching former high school teammate Tim Irvin, a consensus four-star athlete expected to play safety in college, commit to Texas as well. Despite their close relationship, Irvin had kept his decision a secret from his old teammate, which was what made Irvin’s announcement so exciting for him to see.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Rockwall (Texas) running back Chris Warren admitted that the 2015 U.S. Army All-American Bowl didn’t go as planned, but he was taking it all in stride when he spoke with SB Nation Recruiting following Saturday’s event.
After all, one high school all-star game can’t take away the 2,329 rushing yards and 34 touchdowns the consensus four-star prospect put up as a senior last fall in a monster return from an ACL injury that prematurely ended his junior season.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- As always, some of the most significant drama during the 2015 version of the US Army All-American Bowl will be during the game when a handful of top prospects announce their college choices at the Alamodome on Saturday.
The biggest possible announcement may or may not happen, as the nation’s No. 1 prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Apopka (Fla.) offensive tackle Martez Ivey, said during check-in day that he’s made up his mind, but doesn’t know whether the official decision will happen during the game.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- A little more than a week after delaying a planned Christmas commitment, Gilmer (Texas) cornerback Kris Boyd released his top five while in San Antonio for the 2015 US Army All-American Bowl:
Boyd told SB Nation Recruiting during the week that he planned on having a surprise in his top five and with schools like Baylor, Florida State, Texas, and Texas A&M seemingly locked into spots, the surprise school ended up being TCU.

“My dad and I talked about it and I decided that I want to decide at the game,” he told SB Nation Recruiting on Monday. “I thought that I had it back in August and that’s when I decided to break it down and just see how the season was going to go.”
When the 6’5, 222-pounder makes his decision, he will have Florida, LSU, Miami, and Texas hats on the table.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- With mere days before Miami (Fla.) Westminster Christian athlete Tim Irvin makes his decision at the 2015 US Army All-American Bowl, he told SB Nation Recruiting on Monday that he hasn’t yet made up his mind.
“Not yet, I’m still talking to my family, friends, and my coaches about what I’ll decide,” said the 5’9, 186-pounder, who will choose between Florida, Miami, Texas, and West Virginia.
