Oklahoma landed a huge target for their passing game, as Bob Stoops got a commitment from consensus four-star La Mirada (Calif.) wide receiver prospect Dallis Todd after the school’s spring game.

Dallis Todd is a four-star wide out from Southern California who will be providing Bob Stoops’ squads with a big passing target at 6’5.
At 6’5 and 210 pounds, the junior’s size and speed aren’ common. That combination made him a highly touted prospect: 247 has him as the No. 10 wide receiver in the country and the No. 88 player at any position in the country, Scout has him at No. 21 amongst wide receivers, and Rivals considers him the No. 25 positionally. That earned the SoCal product a lot of offers: 31, per Rivals, including Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, Texas A&M, Miami, West Virginia, and Oklahoma’s cross-state rival Oklahoma State. But he chose the Sooners after a visit to Norman.
Derrell Warren, West Coast Recruiting Analyst: Todd is a long strider who turns over his strides pretty quickly so he carries good playing speed. This is evidenced by his ability to sprint away from defenders in the open field after the catch. Listed at 6’5” 210 pounds, he has the frame to eventually get into the vicinity of 225-230 pounds.
For a longer player, Todd releases off the line of scrimmage with good burst. He’s hard to re-route due to how physical he is at the top of his stem. He often will extend into contact to create airspace prior to getting into his break. He’s a huge pass receiving target as on film he routinely plucks the ball away from his frame. Routinely shows a good late burst on deep balls.
I would like to see more tape of Todd in situations where he is made to battle for contested throws. He shows the ability to go up in the air to pluck errant passes. However, I would like to see how he reacts when forced to compete in the air with more athletic defenders.
From a route running perspective, Todd isn’t overly explosive coming out of lateral cuts. He creates intermediate separation with savvy and precision. He bursts off the line to work the defensive backs cushion, and then cut to the post. When taking an outside release, he’ll feign the ‘takeoff’ route to create airspace to set up the comeback pattern. He does a great job recognizing zones and finding voids.
Todd carries the upside to be a true number one receiving target at the college level. He would likely fit best in a pro-style offense.
