The LSU Tigers have poached another big-time commitment, as former Miami commit Travonte Valentine has pledged to Les Miles and LSU on National Signing Day.
4-star DT Travonte Valentine commits to LSU over Miami, Louisville
Travonte Valentine ended a contentious recruitment on National Signing Day by committing to the LSU Tigers over the Miami Hurricanes.

Valentine, a four-star defensive tackle, is listed at 6’3 and 338 pounds. From Champagnat Catholic (Fla.) High School, he hails from Palm Bay. He committed to the Hurricanes in July, decommitting in January and setting up visits with only Miami and the Tigers.

A consensus four-star recruit, Valentine is considered one of the top 14 defensive tackles in the nation by each of the four major recruiting services. Miami was the main competition for his services, but Valentine also held offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Louisville, Notre Dame and Ohio State, among others.
Valentine is considered the 65th-best prospect in the nation by the 247sports composite, which also ranks him as the third-best defensive tackle in the class and the ninth-best player in the state of Florida. He’s a boost to LSU’s class, which already ranked in the top five in the nation without him, and is the lone defensive tackle headed to Baton Rouge next year.
Valentine is a big score for the Tigers, according to LSU blog And The Valley Shook:
A Miami commitment since July, the monster defensive tackle announced his de-commitment from the in-state college at the Army All-American Game, where he impressed those in attendance during the practices, and announced a new leader of LSU. Valentine had plans to visit Baton Rouge during the summer but plans fell through due to an academic situation.
