Highly-touted defensive end recruit Andrew Williams committed to Auburn on National Signing Day, adding to one of the nation’s elite recruiting classes for 2014.
4-star DE Andrew Williams commits to Auburn
Four-star defensive end Andrew Williams out of McDonough, Ga., was courted by the likes of Auburn, Clemson, Georgia and Alabama

Williams hails from Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy in Georgia. He checks in at a sturdy 6’4, 247 pounds, and he should continue to grow once he hits a college weight program. Williams received upwards of 35 scholarship offers from schools all over the country, though his two other finalists were Auburn and Clemson. He also visited Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee throughout his recruitment.

Williams is rated by 247’s composite rankings as the No. 231 prospect nationally. He is also listed as the No. 12 weak-side defensive end in his class, as well as the 17th best prospect from the state of Georgia this year.
Heading into Wednesday, SB Nation’s Bud Elliott felt that Williams was an Auburn lean:
Out of McDonough (Ga.) Eagles Landing Christian, Williams is a four-star defensive lineman and one of the best in the South (and with defensive linemen, that means he’s one of the best in the country.)
Bud Elliott, National Recruiting Analyst: As I addressed Monday in the SEC recruiting update, Williams had an excellent visit to Auburn, and while Clemson is definitely still involved, and he visited UGA as well, I expect the pick to be Auburn.
Auburn blog College and Magnolia was high on Williams’ upside:
Williams would fill another big need for Auburn at defensive end. He is speed rush end with great quickness and flashes really good use of his hands, although inconsistent at times. The Tigers love his upside and feel good about their chances to land him on Wednesday.
Here are some highlights of the big fella in action. (You may want to turn the sound down on your speakers.)
