Georgia football recruiting: 2014 WR Isaiah McKenzie commits to Dawgs on NSD

Mark Richt added a solid receiver prospect to his 2014 recruiting class.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Class of 2014 wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie made his college choice Wednesday, announcing his commitment to Georgia over Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, and others. He’s the 19th prospect committed to the Dawgs for the current recruiting cycle, solidifying Georgia’s push for a top-10 class.

He only had hats for the Hokies and Rebels in front of him, before a certain five-star teammate and Georgia commit handed him the clincher:

Standing 5’9 and weighing in at 172 pounds, McKenzie is listed as a four-star player by the 247Sports composite, a compilation of the four major recruiting services’ ratings. He played his high school ball at American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and holds scholarship offers from 17 schools around the country. McKenzie chose UGA over Ole Miss, Florida, Notre Dame, Oregon, Rutgers and Tennessee, among others.

McKenzie ranks No. 307 in the nation, per the 247 composite, and he’s the 44th-best wide receiver in the Class of ‘14. He’s ranked 42nd in the state of Florida. American Heritage won the 2013 Florida Class 5A state championship, and McKenzie contributed with 41 catches for 892 yards and seven touchdowns during his senior season. He also added 22 rushes for 251 yards and seven more scores. For his career, he compiled 108 receptions, 2,381 receiving yards and 31 TDs.
