Javon Harrison flips from Virginia Tech to Florida State

The four-star cornerback will stay home in Florida to play for the Seminoles.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Javon Harrison, a four-star athlete out of Kathleen High School in Lakeland, Fla., flipped his commitment from Virginia Tech to Florida State on Wednesday, mailing in his National Letter of Intent to the Seminoles.

Harrison is listed by 24/7Sports’ composite rankings as the 197th best prospect in the country. They list him as an athlete, though he will likely play cornerback or wide receiver in college. Harrison is also listed as the 30th best player from Florida in the 2014 class. Despite being 6’1 and 190 pounds, Harrison is explosive in the open field and possesses excellent body control for someone his size.

Harrison committed to Virginia Tech all the way back in July 2012. Despite being committed to the Hokies for more than 18 months, he took an official visits to Florida, Florida State and Virginia Tech in December and January to weigh his final options. In the end, the four-star talent decided Florida State was the school for him. The Seminoles are signing one of the nation’s top recruiting classes this spring.
