Bobby Evans is one of the top offensive linemen in the class of 2015, and will be a name to watch once he gets on to a college campus.
Bobby Evans recruit scouting report: Athletic but undersized left tackle
The four-star prospect is the son of former Oklahoma basketball player Bobby Joe Evans.
Evans attends Allen (Texas) Allen High School, and is considered one of the better prospects in the football-rich Lone Star State. He is considered an offensive tackle by Rivals, 247Sports and Scout and a tight end by ESPN.
The rising senior is listed at 6’5 and 265 pounds. He is a consensus four-star, given the rating by ESPN, 247Sports, Rivals and Scout, and is also considered a composite four-star. ESPN and Scout both consider Evans one of the top 10 players at his position in the country, with the former service highest on him by ranking him as the fifth-best tight end. The 247Sports Composite considers Evans the 14th-best offensive tackle in the class and the 22nd-best player in Texas.
Evans claims offers from Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Texas, among others.
At 6’5, 265 pounds, Evans has plenty of necessary development before he ends up as an offensive tackle in college, making him a developmental project at the next level.
Evans made the move to left tackle as a junior after working as a blocking tight end as a sophomore and appeared to noticeably add mass to his lower body, which helped him drive block opponents off the line of scrimmage. In fact, Evans has good strength for his size, as many high school offensive tackles at his weight struggle to create displacement.
His mobility that allows him to pull and acquire defenders in space also makes him an effective pass protector because of his body quickness. And once he gets his hands placed and extended, it’s difficult for opponents to disengage.
