One of the top defensive tackles in the state of Texas is back on the open market after Houston (Texas) Cypress Falls product Du'Vonta Lampkin announced via Twitter on Tuesday evening that he is no longer committed to the Oklahoma Sooners:
4-star DT Du’Vonta Lampkin decommits from the Oklahoma Sooners
The Houston-area product is the second decommit in two weeks for the Sooners.

— Du'Vont Lampkin (@DeeChilllin) April 23, 2014 The 6’3, 291-pounder is a consensus four-star prospect ranked as the No. 21 defensive tackle nationally and the No. 42 player in the state of Texas. Those rankings are good enough to land Lampkin as the No. 304 player overall in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
He had been committed to Oklahoma since late November of 2013 and had even taken two recent trips to Norman, one for a Junior Day back in early February and another for the spring game on April 12.
Less than 10 days ago, he was sending out tweets like this after the Oklahoma spring game:
Top schools Oklahoma🏈👌
— Du'Vont Lampkin (@DeeChilllin) April 13, 2014 However, the standout from the Dallas NFTC in 2013 and Houston NFTC in 2014 has seen his recruitment take off this spring -- he’s added offers from LSU, Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Texas. He also has an offer from Baylor.
It’s not yet clear if one specific offer or merely the desire to take several visits was the overwhelming factor in his decision.
Following the decommitment of Lampkin and the decision several weeks ago by Oklahoma City (Okla.) Cassady School offensive guard Josh Wariboko to reopen his own recruitment, the Sooners have only three commitments left in the 2015 class. The group ranks No. 39 nationally and No. 7 in the Big 12 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings.
